Simply put, transesterification is a straightforward refining process of oils from animals and vegetables, employing reaction from both with short-chain alcohols, usually ethanol or methanol. The biodiesel production process involves purification, neutralization of free fatty acids from the oils, then there is the actual transesterification process in itself, followed by the final process to produce the biofuel. With almost 350 gallon capacity produced every year, it can be said that more and more people can readily avail of biodiesel and begin an environment – friendly lifestyle.
